A fiber-optic temperature sensor based on LP01-LP02 mode interference

摘要
We studied a fiber-optic temperature sensor based on the interference between LP01 and LP02 modes of a circularly symmetric few mode fiber. Theoretical analysis predicting the sensitivity of such a sensor is presented; the predictions are in excellent agreement with the experimentally measured value. A simple scheme for practical implementation of such a sensor is also suggested. The proposed sensor should be easier to implement than the existing two-mode fiber sensors using elliptical-core fibers, (C) 2000 Academic Press.
