摘要
The Uppsala tandem accelerator system has been improved for application in I-129 AMS. At present routine measurements at 3% relative error are performed on water samples. The accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) system background is < 10(-14), but when carrier and chemical processing are included the background corresponds to I-129/I-127 = 10(-13). Niobium is found to be the most appropriate AgI binder material. The AMS spectrometric design, present performance and some I-129 environmental applications are presented.
