摘要:
The adsorption structure of ethylene on Pt(111) at 200 K is studied by means of diffuse low-energy electron diffraction (DLEED), analyzing diffuse intensity versus energy, DI(E), curves. The data favor a mixed occupation of two similar sites with the centers of the C-C bonds above both fee and hcp sites and very similar local structures. In each case, the best-fit adsorption geometry is asymmetrical between the two carbon atoms, the molecular axes likely being tilted with respect to the surface plane by about 22 degrees. Substrate relaxation is undetectable.
