Lack of regulation and risk assessment could hamper the nanotechnology sector. As nanotechnological products start to reach the market place, concerns are being raised about the potential risk to health if the nanoparticles are inhaled or ingested. Companies have had to act on their own initiative because there are no regulations anywhere in the world to govern nanotech-related products. The greatest concern focuses on nano-sized particles used in consumer products, such as cosmetics or mineral supplements.
