摘要
The scientific aspects of the problems facing the society in the face of depleting energy supplies and increasing population are discussed. Scientists have acknowledged that population growth is the major cause of the problems. If the only check on the growth of population is misery, then the population will grow until it is miserable enough to stop its growth. In the eyes of the general public, the silence of scientists on the problems of population growth seems to validate the messages of the politically appealing and influential Simons of the world.
