摘要
Nitrides and oxynitrides have interesting properties which can be related to the role played by nitrogen in these compounds. In particular, a comparison between oxynitrides and oxides leads to emphasize several characteristics of nitrogen N3- when substituting for oxygen: increase in the anionic formal charge; greater covalent character of the nitride-type compounds; larger cross-linking density in glasses; reducing character due to the N3-/N-0 redox couple and formation of basic surface sites.
