Energy-time dispersed charged particle signatures of dynamic injections in Jupiter's inner magnetosphere

摘要
We report on the first detection of energy-time dispersed charged particle signatures of dynamic injections within Jupiter's inner magnetosphere. They were observed by the Energetic Particle Detector on the Galileo spacecraft. The signatures documented here were detect-ed most clearly in similar to 15-880 keV electrons when Galileo was near local noon at a radial position of similar to 11 R-J. On the basis of the character of the signatures (similar to 60-min signatures within each energy channel and up to similar to 90-min time dispersions between channels), the injection disturbances occurred 24-33 h prior to the time of the detections and spanned similar to 2.5 h (<40 degrees) of azimuth at the time of the disturbances. Possible generation mechanisms and similarities with Earth magnetosphere events are discussed.
