Graded transmission in a bent orifice

摘要
We calculate the transmission of a bent orifice. The bending angle phi is assumed to be small [phi much less than 1 and also theta = root(omega-omega(c))omega(c)much less than 1, when omega is the incoming particle energy, and omega(c)=((h) over bar pi/L)(2)/2m is the threshold one, L is the orifice width]. We find graded transmission: There is a critical angle phi(c)approximate to theta. For phi< phi(c) \t\(2)congruent to 1, and for phi>phi(c) the transmission is dropped abruptly to \t\(2)approximate to theta(2). We suggest an explanation for this phenomenon. [S0163-1829(99)01443-5].
