Synthesis of YAG powder by aluminum nitrate-yttrium nitrate-glycine reaction

摘要
A detailed study of the precursor of YAG powder formed by nitrate-glycine reaction was made. Controlled burning yielded amorphous or nanocrystalline precursor that upon subsequent heat treatment crystallizes to YAG phase accompanied by substantial amount of loss of volatile impurities even during crystallization. The formation of YAG phase from the amorphous precursor took place via the formation of an intermediate YAP structure. Sequential grinding with balls of graded sizes resulted in powders which are not only finer but more uniform in size.
