摘要
This paper describes the influence of tailor-made polyesters on solvent free radiation-curable cycloaliphatic epoxide systems. Hydroxyfunctional polyesters are incorporated via a chain transfer mechanism and thus are appropriate to optimize the mechanical properties of cationic polymerizable systems up to a certain degree. About 30 different polyesters were synthesized, evaluated, modified, and again examined. Special attention is put on the adhesion to metal substrates, on flexibility and reactivity. Recommendations are given for the choice of photoinitiators and the use of supplementary compounds in respect to both adhesion and reaction speed. The paper further discusses the combination of a radiation-curable primer with conventional cured polyurethane based top coats. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
