(Chemical Equation Presented) Passing it on: Since every reaction at a prochiral ion must take place in close proximity to its counterion, it should be possible to transfer chiral information between the ions of an ionic liquid. Indeed, the hydrogenation of a prochiral, keto-functionalized cation was found to proceed in the presence of (R)-camphorsulfonate in up to 80% ee (see scheme). © 2007 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
