BaZrO3: Skull-melting, characterisation and interactions with YBCO

BaZrO3 is supposed to be an inert crucible or substrate material for YBa2Cu3O7-x (YBCO) superconductors. Therefore we grow single crystals of BaZrO3 using the skull-melting technique and examine their interaction with YBCO-flux. A very small reaction layer of (Ba,Zr,Cu)Ox is formed; Zr can not be detected by EDX analysis in the flux volume.
