Effect of titania (TiO2) interfacial coating on mechanical properties of carbon-carbon composites

摘要
Carbon-carbon composites are promising materials for utilization in various strategic applications. The characteristics of the composites are governed by the nature of the fiber and matrix precursors used for their fabrication and also on fiber-matrix interactions which form the interface. To improve the mechanical performance of carbon-carbon composites it is essential to modify the interface. The effects of interfacial coating on the mechanical properties of carbon-carbon composites by employing titanium alkoxide as precursor material for coating the carbon fiber with titania are presented.
