摘要
The safety of blood transfusion is still threatened by contamination of blood products with a variety of pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and parasites. A novel pathogen reduction process for platelets and plasma products, the Mirasol PRT system, has been developed and is under clinical evaluation for its efficacy and safety. The Mirasol PRT process is based on riboflavin photochemistry. This manuscript reviews current progress and future trends. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
