Tying up the loose ends: Cyclization of a linear hexapeptide made from alternating valine and α-aminodeoxycholanic acid units yielded two macrolactams: cyclo-(valine-3-α-aminodeoxycholic acid amide), and cyclo(valine-3-α-amino-deoxycholic acid amide)6, the product of a cyclodimerization (see structure). X-Ray diffraction studies confirmed that the latter compound has the structure of a trefoil knot. (Chemical Equation Presented). © 2006 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH &. Co. KGaA.
