Preparation and characterization of microporous Ni coatings as hydrogen evolving cathodes

摘要
A preparation method for microporous Ni coatings on electrodes is proposed. Ni is electroplated through the pores of a generic microporous polymer coating onto the cathode. Subsequent polymer thermal decomposition resulted in a porous Ni coating. These cathodes exhibited promising current densities for hydrogen evolution, in the range of those encountered at sintered Ni coatings.
