摘要
The relaxation of three-dimensional perturbations in hows generated in thin density stratified layers is discussed. It is found that the relaxation time for such perturbations is small compared to the other characteristic times of the system. These results offer a basis to assess the two dimensionality of freely decaying turbulence prepared in such configurations. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
