The v(GeH) = 6, 7, and 8 overtones of monoisotopic (H3GeD)-Ge-70 have been studied by ICLAS with effective optical path lengths between 9 and 40.8 km at a resolution of ca. 0.05 cm(-1). Rotational structure was resolved and assigned (in the local mode notation) to the (600), 11 649.77 cm(-1), (700), 13 353.72 cm(-1), and (800), 14 985.25 cm(-1), levels. The observed transitions were fitted to a local mode model with five refined parameters. No Coriolis effects were revealed, and local mode constraints between the off-diagonal and mast of the diagonal matrix elements were used. The rms deviation of the fits was ca. 0.04 cm(-1), with some obviously perturbed high J and K levels excluded. When compared with previous studies of the (200) and (300) vibrational levels it is concluded that the (n00) levels of H3GeD essentially reveal local mode behavior for n greater than or equal to 3.
