Incidence of diabetes and gout in hypertensive patients during 8 years of follow-up

After 8 years of follow-up, diabetes mellitus was diagnosed in 5.0% of hypertensive and 1.5% normotensive subjects. The diagnosis of gout was made in 3.1% and 0.9%, respectively.
