Although there has been an increase in the number of studies examining the outcome of patients with personality disorders, little attention has been given to assessing the stability of personality disorder diagnoses, The stability, or lack of stability, of personality disorder diagnoses is an important issue that can be addressed empirically and could play a role in future decisions about the diagnostic nomenclature.
