摘要:
The adsorption of oxygen on Rh(111) has been studied at a surface temperature of 40 K using X-ray and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy, work function measurements, and helium atom scattering. In contrast to Pt(111), where oxygen molecules chemisorb on the bare surface prior to decomposition, on Rh(111) - even at a temperature of 40 K - a monolayer of atomic oxygen with a poorly ordered (1 X 1) structure is formed. Further exposure leads to a physisorbed O-2-layer.
