Extraintestinal manifestations of inflammatory bowel disease

Extraintestinal diseases commonly occur in patients with IBD. Virtually every organ system may be involved in extraintestinal manifestations associated with IBD. An increasing number of these disorders have been linked to the immunologic model of the underlying intestinal pathology. Insight into the pathogenesis of the extraintestinal manifestations of IBD will allow greater recognition of their presence and therapy tailored toward specific disease process.
