X-ray diffraction study of LaBSiO5

摘要
Lanthanum borosilicate LaBSiO5 was studied by means of single crystal X-ray diffraction technique. Lattice parameters measured between 293 K and 470 K indicate that the compound undergoes a phase transition at 400 K. Crystal structure of LaBSiO5 was successfully determined assuming space group P3(1)21 at 443 K and P3(1) at 293 K, respectively. In both phases one lanthanum ion is coordinated by ten oxygens and some vacancies at oxygen and boron sites in BO4 tetrahedra forming spiral chain parallel to c-axis are noticed, Main structural alteration through the transition was found in the distances between lanthanum and some nearest neighbor oxygens.
