Infrared studies of glasses in the Li2O-B2O3-GeO2(SiO2) systems

摘要
Glasses of composition according to the formula Li2O . B2O3. xGeO(2)(SiO2) where x = 1,2 and 4 (number of GeO2 or SiO2 moles) were synthesised. Spectroscopic studies in the middle infrared range of 1800-400 cm(-1) were carried out. Interpretation of the obtained vibrational spectra allows us to make some conclusions on the structure of the studied glasses: they are built up of [GeO4] or [SiO4] tetrahedra and also [BO3] triangles and [BO4] tetrahedra. In such glasses of mixed framework, the lithium ion does not act as depolymerisator but stabilizes the tetrahedrally coordinated boron. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
