Piperazine-4,4'-sulfonyldiphenol (1/2): A self-assembled channel structure

摘要
Interaction of piperazine with 4,4'-sulfonyldiphenol at ambient temperature in methanol yields the salt, piperazine-1,4-diium bis(4,4'-sulfonyldiphenolate), C4H12N22+.2C(12)H(9)O(4)S(-), in which pairs of phenolate anions form cyclic dimers. The cations act as multiple hydrogen-bond donors, of both the N-H...O and C-H...O types, which tie these dimers into stacks enclosing channels 4.3 Angstrom in diameter.
