摘要
Lyme disease is the major vector borne infection in the United States. This geographically restricted tick-borne spirochetal infection often targets the nervous system to cause characteristic syndromes during early and late stage infection. Awareness of basic disease feature can help to minimize diagnostic and therapeutic controversies. This bacterial infection offers a fascinating model to study how a pathogen can cause neurologic disease.
