摘要
This study is a cross-national empirical analysis of the correlates of faculty publication productivity in a ten-country sample. The countries included in the study are as follows: Australia, Brazil, Chile, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Publication productivity was measured as number of articles published over a three-year period. By reviewing the findings of related literature on the professoriate in the developed world, the study seeks to determine the extent to which these hold for less developed academic systems as well, and more broadly, to identify similarities and differences in the patterns of publication productivity across the examined nations. The statistical analyses conducted for each country reveal differences that clearly challenge the unqualified application of established research productivity models to other national contexts.
