The temporary alar suspension stitch: A refinement in forehead flap reconstruction of nasal defects

The temporary alar suspension stitch seems to represent a new, valuable tool in the surgical repair of selected nasal defects. However, additional study of the suture technique, particularly with possible bone fixation techniques in the forehead, is needed before the widespread use of the technique is advocated. The author is currently carrying out a cadaver study and developing a patient series to corroborate the technique as a safe and valuable adjunct in nasal reconstructive surgery. The technique, however, seems promising as another refinement in the advancing art of nasal reconstruction.
