Acrylamide polymerized in the presence of surfactants: Surface analysis using atomic force microscopy

摘要
The formation of polyacrylamide gels in the presence of surfactants at room temperature by free-radical polymerization was studied. Translucent gels were tranformed into homogeneously white gels with features as large as several hundred nanometers that scattered light strongly. The results showed that the surfactants were homogeneously distributed in the gel matrix and the restructuring of the gel architecture occurred when the surfactant diffused out to make these gels scatter light strongly.
