摘要
It is shown that propagating acoustic vibrational modes are observed by Raman scattering when their localization length is shorter than the light wavelength, but longer than the vibration wavelength. Using a model, it is found that the light-vibration coupling coefficient, C(omega), is then frequency independent and can be temperature dependent. This is verified experimentally with an inorganic glass, boron oxide, and a polymeric glass, polycarbonate.
