摘要
New advanced kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHI) have been developed for applications in oil and gas fields. These new-generation inhibitors demonstrated the enhanced performance resulting from the improvement of polymer chemistry and reformulation. The polymer chemistry was improved by a number of concerted approaches that included the synthesis of new polymers, copolymerization, control of molecular weight and distribution, and subtle changes in the polymerization process. The resulting polymers were further formulated with performance-enhancing additives, using synergistic compounds and solvent packages. The improved performance of advanced KEI was verified in the autoclave and rocking cell tests. All advanced KHI passed the benchmark of extending induction time for hydrate formation to more than 48 hours at 13degreesC subcooling.
