摘要：

The application of virtual-reality therapy for the treatment of burned patients is discussed. Burn patients undergoing wound care report that their pain reduces when they engage in virtual-reality programs. Functional magnetic resonance imaging shows that virtual reality reduces the amount of pain-related activity in the brain. Virtual-reality programs are also used to help phobic patients to overcome their fear of spiders, heights flying or public speaking and to treat post-tarumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in survivors of terrorist attacks.
