摘要
With roots in primacy care, use of the physician assistant (PA) has now spread to many areas of medical specialty, including dermatology. Dermatologic symptoms account for 14% of all PA visits, with most of these visits taking place in a dermatologists office. Some of the duties performed by PAs include diagnosis, evaluation and management of common dermatologic conditions, preoperative and postoperative evaluations, writing prescriptions, cryotherapy of benign lesions, intralesional injections, performing biopsies, laser therapy, and minor surgeries. This article answers questions concerning the role of the PA and provides specific data on the use of PAs in the care of patients with skin disease.
