Low-order velocity structure functions in relatively high Reynolds number turbulence

摘要
Measured second- and third-order moments of longitudinal and transverse velocity increments are examined for relatively large values of the Taylor microscale Reynolds number R lambda in highly turbulent shear flows. The results support an approach to a Kolmogorov-like inertial range only at very large values of R lambda. Correspondingly, the difference between inertial range power law exponents of longitudinal and transverse velocity structure functions continues to diminish as R lambda increases.
