Mechanical fatigue of a soft PZT ceramic under pulsating tensile loading

摘要
The purely mechanical fatigue is considered for unpoled and poled piezoelectric (PZT) ceramics. For a commercial PZT material lifetime measurements were executed in pulsating cyclic tests and the crack growth rates determined. It was found that (a) the crack growth curves for v<10-6 m/s could be described sufficiently by power law relations of the form da/dN = A(KImax/KIc)n and that (b) the loading type (tension/bending) did not have a significant influence on the fatigue behavior.
