摘要
The effect of Li preadsorption on the kinetics of CO oxidation on a highly (111) textured polycrystalline Pt surface has been investigated using mass spectrometry to analyse the components of the reaction. Li preadsorption decreases the reaction rate and with a full Li monolayer the oxidation is completely damped. A Monte Carlo simulation of the reaction on an alkali-precovered Pt(111) surface clarifies the role of the dipole moments of alkali adatoms and related rates of increase of the sticking coefficient for oxygen adsorption in the efficiency of the promoters.
