All-optical modulation in azo-dye-doped polymer waveguides

摘要
Optical modulation in planar waveguides formed in polycarbonate by indiffusion of methyl red is experimentally studied for different intensities of pumping (488 nm) and probing (633 nm). It is shown that the photochromic properties of the cis-isomer of the dye greatly affect the characteristics of the red light modulation process. (C) 2000 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
