摘要
The mechanical properties, characteristics of formation and applications of metal foams were discussed. The metal foaming process included precursor making, initial pore formation, pore inflation and foam degradation and solidification. The high stiffness-to-weight ratio, vibration damping capacity and nonflammability of metal foams make them suitable to be used in automotive, aerospace, nautical, railway, building, industrial and bio-medical industries.
