Stable and selective recognition of three base pairs in the parallel triple-helical DNA binding motif

摘要
Modifying bases in parallel-triplex-forming oligonucleotides with a 2′-O-amino-ethyl backbone enabled an extended DNA triplex recognition code to be developed for use in the control of gene expression. Removal of the oxygen atom at C4 of thymine transforms a donor/acceptor base into a double acceptor base and redirects recognition from A-T to strong and highly selective C-G recognition (see scheme).
