Statin therapy is proposed as a possible treatment for the prevention of restenosis, but the evidence remains inconclusive. In a study of 2,902 patients undergoing coronary stent implantation, statin therapy was not protective against restenosis during 6 months after revascularization, but did significantly prevent death during that time period.
