Wheel meet again: The titanium (IV) substituted [{β-Ti 2SiW10O39}4]24- (1) consists of four β-Keggin moieties that are linked via Ti-O-Ti bonds leading to a cyclic arrangement (see picture; red WO6, green TiO 6, and blue SiO4). The wheels stack to give a tunnel-like structure. Synthesis of 1 is from the dilacunary precursor [γ-SiW 10O36]8- and gives insights into the mechanism of formation of polyoxoanion assemblies.
