Two-photon spectroscopy on cold ortho-excitons in a stress trap in Cu2O crystals

摘要
A stress-induced harmonic potential well for ortho-excitons in Cu2O is characterized by relevant emission spectra under resonant two-photon excitation at 1.6 K to develop a stress trap for the excitonic system. The spectra reveal that the excitons are really populated in stress-split sub-levels coexisting with the relevant resonant scattering. The mean kinetic energy of the excitons populated in the lower-lying sub-level is reduced when the excitons are selectively excited at the potential minimum. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
