Vortex rings and mutual drag in trapped Bose-Einstein condensates

We study the drag on an object moving through a trapped Bose-Einstein condensate, and shaw that finite compressibility leads to a mutual drag, which is subsequently suppressed by the formation of a vortex ring. [S1050-2947(99)05612-7].
