Electrically switchable Bragg gratings from liquid crystal/polymer composites

摘要
The marriage of holography to the rapidly growing filed of liquid crystals has allowed for the production and study of new class of optics known as holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystals. The gratings produced are capable of providing excellent holographic images and/or optical elements which have the added benefit that they can be switched on and off by applying an electric field. The characteristics and properties of H-PDLC gratings are determined by a complex relationship between polymerization and phase separation as well as number of other contributing factors.
