RKKY interaction for strongly correlated electrons

摘要
The RKKY interaction between localized magnetic impurities mediated by correlated electrons is investigated in one dimension, where the electrons are in the Luttinger liquid phase. We find a slow algebraic distance dependence of the RKKY interaction, where the power-law exponent depends on the Coulomb interaction strength. For strong exchange couplings or very low temperatures, Kondo screening destroys the RKKY behavior. We give an exact solution for the strong-coupling limit and employ Monte Carlo simulations for intermediate exchange couplings.
