摘要
The careful design of experiment (DOE) technique has been utilized to analyze the residual stress state and to investigate the fatigue life improvement of a material (nitriding steel) subjected to thermal and mechanical treatment. Nitriding treatments have been performed on several specimens which have been subsequently shotpeened, varying the main parameters controlling the process. The design of experiment method has been accomplished in order to evaluate the influence of the main shot-peening parameters on the distribution and values of the residual stresses close to the surface, and also in order to estimate the influence of these parameters on fatigue resistance.
