In situ monitoring of crystallization processes using synchrotron X-ray diffraction: The search for structural precursors

摘要：

Preliminary in situ SAXS and WAXD studies of the nucleation of molecular crystals from undercooled melts and supersaturated solutions are reported. Supersaturated solutions showed no evidence of long-range ordering prior to the appearance of crystals, while in single component melts the appearance of short-lived metastable crystalline and liquid crystalline states are consistent with precrystalline molecular assembly.
