Surface sensitivity of ion implanted titanium to hydroxyapatite formation

摘要
The reactivity of Ti surfaces doped with both CaO and P2O5 toward hydroxyapatite (HA) formation was examined. The preparation was conducted using ion implantation and subsequent oxidation. The reactivity of these ion implantation modified Ti surfaces was examined by microscopically recording the HA nucleation and growth on their surfaces from a simulated body fluid (SBF). The surface characteristics before and after solution exposure were determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy.
