Transport properties in the calcium-doped Nd-Ce-Cu-O system

摘要
The Hall coefficient R(H), resistivity, and magnetoresistance have been measured in both superconducting polycrystalline samples of Nd1.85-xCaxCe0.15CuC4-delta and nonsuperconducting samples of Nd2-xCaxCuO4+delta (x less than or equal to 0.3). Addition of Ca does not destroy the superconductivity, but dramatically changes the R(H) and eventually causes a change in sign of R(H) from negative to positive. The hole state in the CuO2 plane arises from the lattice distortion induced by Ca doping, which leads to the O p band going through the Fermi level. The negative magnetoresistance is closely related to the localization of conducting carriers.
