Crystal-structure and magnetic properties of the new ternary compound Pr117Co57Sn112

摘要
The new ternary compound Pr117Co57Sn112 has been successfully synthesized and studied by means of X-ray powder diffraction technique. The compound Pr117Co57Sn112 crystallizes in a cubic Dy117Co57Sn112-type structure with space group Fm (3) over barm (No. 225) and lattice parameter a = 30.8202 (5) angstrom. The figure of merit for the index F-30 is 80.4 (30). Crystal-structure of Pr117Co57Sn112 has been successfully refined using the Rietveld method from X-ray diffraction data. The R-factors for the Rietveld refinement are R-p = 0.077, R-wp = 0.101 and R-exp = 0.032. The temperature dependence of the magnetization for the compound was also investigated in the range from 85 to 305 K. The experimentally determined magnetic effective moment is mu(eff) = 54.6 mu(B) per formula unit. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
